WHY FBI INK CARD FINGERPRINTING?

There are certain circumstances where individuals may be required to undergo FBI ink card fingerprinting. Here are a few reasons why this type of fingerprinting is necessary:

  1. Federal Background Checks: Some positions or roles in California may require individuals to undergo more comprehensive background checks beyond what is covered by standard Live Scan fingerprinting. These positions often involve access to sensitive information, national security concerns, or federal-level investigations. The FBI ink card fingerprinting is used to submit fingerprints to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for a thorough background check at the federal level.
  2. Federal Employment: Certain federal agencies and departments, including those related to law          enforcement, intelligence, or homeland security, may require applicants to undergo FBI ink card        fingerprinting as part of their employment process. This ensures that individuals being considered      for these positions meet the stringent background requirements set by federal authorities.
  3. Immigration and Naturalization: Individuals going through the immigration and naturalization            process in California may be required to submit FBI ink card fingerprints as part of their application. These fingerprints are used to conduct comprehensive background checks and verify an applicant’s criminal history and potential national security concerns.
  4. Interstate Licensing and Clearances: In some cases, individuals seeking professional licenses or            clearances that require interstate reciprocity may need to provide FBI ink card fingerprints. This        ensures consistency and compatibility with national standards for certain professions, such as those   in healthcare, education, or law enforcement, where mobility across state lines is common.

It’s important to note that FBI ink card fingerprinting is typically reserved for specific circumstances that involve federal-level scrutiny or where comprehensive background checks are necessary. It provides an additional layer of security and ensures compliance with federal regulations and requirements.
